SharePoint Server refers to the enterprise versions of the SharePoint platform, not to be confused with Windows SharePoint Services. As with other Microsoft product lines, product names ending in “Server”, such as Microsoft Office SharePoint Server, are paid products, while product names ending in “Services”, such as Windows SharePoint Services, are free or included in the Windows licence.
